A visit to Iowa

I finally made it to Iowa!  Jon's dad grew up in Iowa and in the 11 years that Jon and I've been together I have never been.  We took the girls up to visit Jon's grandparents.  The trip started out as just Jon and his dad but once we decided to go as a family Elaine, Jeff and Cindy came too.  It was a wonderful weekend.  We all really loved it up there, although I'm sure the mid-sixty degree temperatures had something to do with it.  I may not have the same appreciation for it in December.  We took a 2 hour flight to Minneapolis and then a 3 hour drive to Postville.

All packed and ready to go!

"Are you coming Mom?"

All smiles at the beginning of the trip

She got very tired of this seat.  She had to sit in my lap the whole time and was not pleased.

Postville is a very small town surrounded by corn fields.  It felt great to be in the countryside.

Fun Uncle Jeff invented a game, sliding down the hill on a cardboard box.  Jon's grandparent's apartment is in the background.

Watching Mickey Mouse with Grandma Schneider.

Uncle Jeff invented another game.  I wasn't as comfortable with this one.

Aunt CeCe with Maddie.  It was SO windy that day.

This is on Aunt Beth and Uncle Randy's farm.

I was shocked she wanted to ride because she was too scared to pet them.

Al's sister, Beth, walked Maddie around the farm.

Maddie wanted to bring Lucy home with us.  She was such a sweet dog.

Walking at the Junction, an old railroad track (tracks have been removed)

Action shot.

Four Generations!

At Pikes Peak park, overlooking the Mississippi.

Collecting sticks on our hike.

Maddie in the red coat.

Resting.  It's time to go home.

They spent a long time just watching Lucy chew a bone.  Maybe we should get JoJo a bone and see if they find it as entertaining.

Plane ride home.
