Happy Halloween

Off comes the hat. She still made a cute sheep though :)

We trick-or-treated with our friend Connie Ann.

Maddie really got into it.

Watch out Maddie, Daddy's going to get you.

We dipped into the candy a little early.

Worn out at the end of the night.

Funny Maddie stories

One thing I've learned recently is that Maddie listens to EVERYTHING.  I now watch what I say in front of her.  Whenever my friends and I get together it's so easy to talk about the difficult times with them since they also have a 3 year olds but I can't do that anymore.  I knew that Maddie understood what was being said but I didn't think she paid much attention.  Last week at my parents house she proved me wrong.

We were eating dinner and having a conversation.  For some reason we were laughing at Caitlyn.  The conversation went something like this.

Mom:  This is just like when you guys were growing up.  We were always laughing at the youngest member of the family (my brother).
Me:  You mean you didn't laugh at me, I'm insulted.
Mom:  Yes we did but it was behind your back.

I don't remember what else was said but I noticed Maddie was out of her chair and making a lot of noise.  I tell her to sit back down and eat  her dinner.

Maddie: But I was laughing behind your back.  (she was standing behind me going Ha  Ha Ha)

Maddie walked into her bedroom where Jon and I were waiting to read books.  She was hiding something behind her back.

Jon:  Maddie, what's behind your back? (knowing it was probably a paci)
Maddie:  I don't know.
Jon:  Could it be something green?
Maddie:  No, red.
Jon:  Does it start with a Puh sound?
Maddie (as sweetly as possible):  Puppy dog?

Last night I dug the paci out from underneath her pillow.  She had a fit and cried that she wants to be 2 again (when she could use pacis).  She got over it and we started to read a book before bed.  I didn't think she was actually using the paci because we check on her every night and it's not in her mouth.  As I was tucking her in I turn the camera to face her.  All week long she has been turning it to the wall.

Maddie: Why did you turn the camera?
Me: I just like it facing this way. (hoping to not give her too much information in case she didn't understand that I could see her)  Why did you move the camera to the wall?
Maddie:  Because I didn't want you to see me using the paci.

At least she was honest.

Off to Pappy's house we go.

We kept our visit a surprise.

Gramps was there too.

We spent lots of time outside.

She is ALWAYS running.

Racing.  Pretty soon I won't have to let her win.
However, I get most of my exercise from chasing this one.

Our beautiful 3 year old. She's practicing for her modeling career.
Running some more.

Watching Elmo and barking. It was an episode about dogs.
Making Pancakes. Fun activity but left a beautiful kitchen for Gramma to clean up.
No hands. She was so proud of this.

We tried apple picking but the farm didn't have any apples this year due to bad weather. They had some goats and a playground so it was still a fun outing.
She loved it.

Anna and James also fed the goats with us.
and Gramps was there too.

We could buy apples at the farm so that was a pre-lunch treat.
Maddie demonstrating a game on my new iPhone.
My parents like the put the kids to work. I think Maddie will eventually catch on and prefer the grandparents with a hot tub. :)

We had a birthday party for Maddie's baby doll.

Putting the girls to work again.

Maddie and Gramps eating breakfast together. It was sweet to listen to their conversation. Gramps was asking how old her baby was and then told her he was 100 (actually 91)
