February has flown by!

Maddie had a busy month. She is gaining confidence with walking. She still falls down but tries to walk everywhere instead of crawling. The weekend after her birthday she got pink eye and a bad cold. Those were very long, hard four days for both of us. She also had her first Casper bite. I was in the same room as her but looking the opposite direction. The next thing I knew she's pulling Casper's tail and I see him bite her face!!! I scream and run towards them. She let Casper go and is left with a scratch on her forehead and eye lid. Thank goodness it wasn't her eye (I know that's quite an understatement). I called the pediatrician and he wasn't worried and just told me to keep it clean. We figure that we've been bit by Casper a number of times (also an understatement) and have never had an infection. She recovered from that but I don't think Casper has since he's been locked in our room ever since. I don't let him out unless Maddie's sleeping. Unfortunately I made the mistake of not locking his litter box in the room with him and had a little present waiting for me today. I still don't know where he peed so hopefully we find the source of the smell soon. Anyways, we're heading to Dallas this weekend for Jon's cousin's wedding (yay :)) and then March should be slow until April hits (my parents visit and another Dallas trip). Apparently I like the parenthesis tonight.

Loving on JoJo

We've reached the climbing phase.

"Hey, look what I can do if I stand on this box!"

"I'm going to rest now. Climbing on things is exhausting!"

"Who needs a spoon when you can just lick the bowl?"

I love the whale spout. This one actually stayed in for an hour before she found it.

Cuddling with dad before work.
Returning my video for me.

Some of the cutest pictures you'll ever see

The photos are ready. I'm so pleased with how they turned out. It didn't seem like Maddie smiled that much during the session but Kristin managed to capture her smile for almost every pose. You can see our gallery here. Click on Client Sessions Galleries. You may need to set up a profile to view them.

Year portrait previews

Kristin posted some photos on her blog from Maddie's year portraits. I'll let you know once the rest of the pictures are ready.

Maddie did not want to stand still for the pictures so maybe modeling isn't in her future. We'd position her and she'd immediately crawl away. A lot different than her newborn session where she slept the entire time. I think the pictures Kristin posted look great and I can't wait to see the rest. Part of the baby plan includes a mounted plaque with a photo from each session. Our second baby (which isn't any time soon in case you were wondering :)) will definitely be signed up for the baby plan as well. We've been so pleased by Kristin and all of the photos she's taken. They are such great treasures enjoyed by us and our families.

Finally baby proofed

Jon's dad installed our cabinet locks this morning. He had some help from Maddie girl.

"Wait a second, this is what I was helping with?"

"This is NOT fair"

Our baby gate for the bottom of the stairs arrives today so once that's up we should be good. I ordered special clamps that fasten around the banisters so we don't have to drill holes. Hopefully they work.

Maddie's birthday party

Maddie had a great time at her birthday party. She enjoyed opening gifts and playing with the other kids, but not so much digging into her little cake. She didn't like the frosting on her hands, but later she ate the cake from my fork and loved it.

I timed the birthday party according to her nap schedule, from 3 - 5, however I think we need to switch to one nap a day now. She took her morning nap fine but then she cried for an hour and a half before for her afternoon nap and didn't fall asleep until 2:30. She woke up at 3:15 so at least she slept. Today we took Maddie to Granny White Park this morning to keep her up and move back the morning nap. She looked exhausted and I knew she would not have a problem going to sleep this morning but I wanted to see how she did with one nap today. I put her down at 11:30 and she's still asleep 2 hours later. She usually only sleeps for an hour. I'm sorry to let her first nap go but at least we won't be stuck at the house for most of the day now.

12 month stats

Maddie had her 12 month doctor's appointment this morning and did not like being checked out. Even when Dr. Godfrey was just looking her over she screamed and had a fit, especially when he looked in her ears. After he finished he laughed and said she has spunk and we'd have a fun year. Her weight is 19 lbs 2 oz (20th percentile) and her height is 30 1/4 inches (80th percentile).

Present from Grandma and Pappy.

"Forget the pony, I have electronics to explore!"

Our present to Maddie

Mamma's big helper

This is why I have to clean the floors every day!

I just finished wrestling Maddie to put the bow in her hair. It's a lot harder than it looks, especially when the subject won't stop moving.

Maddie loves all the birthday cards you sent. Thank you so much everyone!!!

This horse is also a great push toy.

More clean up.
