Elaine visited us this past weekend. We had this visit planned since the spring because I asked Elaine to go to the Taylor Swift concert. Elaine, who loves concerts, jumped at the chance and excitedly agreed. She then ran out to buy all of Taylor's CDs because she had no idea who she was :) The concert was amazing! I was skeptical at first because Taylor is only 19 and I didn't think she had enough experience to be a good performer. She really did great. The set was amazing, there were tons of costume changes, and she really knew how to work the crowd (we had to cover our ears a couple of times). Taylor also surprised everyone by showing up at the back of the theater to sing some songs. She made her way through the crowd, hugging everyone, to the center of the theater to sing a couple more songs. She then hugged everyone all the way back up front. It was so sweet how she loved her fans. Elaine was worried she'd be the oldest one there and she probably was. As we were filing into the Sommet Center there were tons of little girls everywhere. She said it felt like a school and it was Grandma day. It was really funny. Anyways, great show. Then the next night that whole Kanye thing happened. Crazy.
Maddie is doing well. She had her 2nd day of mothers day out. A little boy was dropped off as we entered the classroom and was NOT happy. He was screaming so I was afraid that Maddie would also get upset. She did fine. She walked over to the little play kitchen and didn't even look up at me as I kissed her goodbye and left. This really says alot for the school because she usually cries when I leave her. She only slept for 35 minutes but was happy all afternoon.
It's been fun watching her pretend and play. The first thing she does in the morning is kiss her baby doll. This morning she laid her baby down and put diaper cream on the baby's bottom. She then asked me to put a diaper on her doll. She also likes playing in her kitchen and telling me everything is hot. She was using some play dough today and pretended to cook it, tell me it was hot, blow on it, then pretend eat it.
I give her some alone playtime in the morning. I put the baby gate up and let her play with all her toys in her room. I rearranged her room by removing her changing table to make room and adding more toys. I just change her on the ground now. I think it's good for her to have a little time to play alone without stimulation, plus it gives me 30 minutes to clean up from breakfast and finish getting ready for the day. I made the mistake last week of putting her in her room with only a diaper on. It dawned on me right before the 30 minutes was up that this was a mistake. I found a naked little girl running around her room. Too funny.
Maddie and Daddy's new game, jump over Maddie. Jon tried to reverse it on her to "Jump over Daddy" but she can't quite make it.
"Helping" mommy bake.

"Touchdown"
Second day of school.
Helping mommy bake again. Mmmm, fudge zucchini brownies.
Owen and Maddie at playgroup.
Venturing out in the rain today.
Discovering a puddle.
Taking her aggression out on the play dough.
It's much easier to put the lid on without the play dough inside.
